Generations - Part 1

I'm borrowing an idea from Mandy Thrasher (kind of) and posting some of my favorite pictures. The trouble is: I'm having so much trouble narrowing it down. So, I'll start by posting my favorites of my grandparents and move my way down the family tree.

I'm so grateful to whoever took these photos of my great-grandparents and grandparents and they are some of my greatest treasures!

This one is of my Great-Grandfather, Samuel Gibson and my Great-Grandmother, Kathryn. He is my mother's grandfather and I never got to meet him. He suffered from alcoholism and my grandmother separated from him for quite a while but never divorced him. I wish I had known her and been able to talk to her more about her life but she passed away when I was only six.

This is a picture of my grandmother, Madelyn on the far left and my great-aunt Kathleen on the far right. I don't know who the other girls are in this picture but I love it because they're so cute in their shorts and tied off tops! They must all be teenagers in the shot.

This is my grandfather, Winston Allen Robinson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in China.

This is absolutely one of my favorites of him in China! I love seeing my six-foot+ grandfather in that rickshaw surrounded by all the locals! I wish I could read the newspaper headlines in the window behind him.

I don't know how old they are in this picture but they are clearly in love! And now, even after 61 years together, they still are. I can't wait to say the same about Brian and I!

This photo is of my grandfather and his best friend J.F.. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of this man! Every time I smell pipe smoke I think of him!

This picture was taken on their wedding day more than 61 years ago!

I love this one of my grandmother! She looks like a movie star!
